"Padres en Cristo" means "Parents in Christ" and is a ministry that focuses on helping children in great need by promoting foster care in churches throughout Peru.
Soon after arriving in Lima, I learned of an evangelical foster care agency here in the capital city. After talking with the directors, we were all in agreement that I could promote foster care in the churches in search of evangelical foster families for the children who currently live in the government homes. Padres en Cristo has been set up as an extension of the Assemblies of God – Peru to help children in great need. The ministry was established in August 2009 and since then I have been able to speak in presbytery meetings, churches, and to other national leadership about the ministry. Currently, there is one family in the process of child placement and will receive a foster child within 2-4 months! This ministry is still in the beginning stages but it is moving forward!
Vision
Padres en Cristo has been developed to take the Gospel to children in great need and to those who do not have the emotional and spiritual support of a family.
Mission
The mission of Padres en Cristo is to find evangelical families for the children by visiting the churches and sharing the vision of this ministry with the people so they will know how they can be a part in building Peru, one child at a time.
Ministry Objectives
1. find evangelical families to be foster parents for the children who currently live in the government homes
2. take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the children who come from a background of violence and forms of abandonment
3. to help diminish the number of institutionalized children in Peru
